Immersive Experience Design

I design experiences that people feel in their bodies. I consider emotional arc, spatial flow, and cultural context—using sound, scent, light, and layout to shape how people move, connect, and remember. Whether in a pop-up venue or permanent space, I make sure every detail serves the larger story and supports the artist, the audience, and the atmosphere.

Summary

After Hours is a recurring event series that transforms unconventional spaces into immersive showcases for emerging Black artists. Each experience blends performance, community, and atmosphere to offer intimate introductions—not just to an artist, but to a curated world. As I shape the vision, format, and growth of After Hours—leading everything from artist curation and production strategy to expansion planning, team building, and grant sourcing.

My Role:

Executive Director

Crafting Intimate, Immersive Platforms for Emerging Artists and Creative Communities

Project Overview

    • Defined what it means for After Hours to be an “intimate introduction,” designing every detail from guest flow to artist reveal to evoke personal connection and emotional resonance.

    • Transformed nontraditional spaces—like studios, warehouses, and community storefronts—into immersive, multi-sensory environments using lighting, scent, sound, and layout to guide guests through moments of discovery, reflection, and connection.

    • Oversaw all event setup and spatial design, from stage and installation placement to seating, vendor integration, and tech positioning—ensuring form served both function and feeling.

    • Oversaw the recruitment and pairing of featured artists—across music, fashion, and visual disciplines—with DJs, photographers, and vendor partners.

    • Built collaborative briefs for each artist to ensure their story and creative voice shaped every part of the experience.

    • Developed community-centered systems for talent sourcing that prioritized alignment, intention, and quality.

    • Led the expansion strategy for After Hours, including the recruitment of new team members and the development of new city partnerships.

    • Sourced and managed grant and pitch competition applications to secure future funding and operational sustainability.

    • Positioned After Hours as both a cultural moment and a business model—one that elevates artists while building networks of value and support.

    • Designed each event as more than a show: a curated gathering featuring music, drinks, photo moments, and creative vendors.

    • Partnered with beverage brands, DJs, and visual artists to expand the narrative and offer guests deeper connection to Black creative ecosystems.

    • Built the vibe intentionally: from lighting to layout, from soundtrack to shared experience.
