Collaborative Design

I deeply believe in co-design, treating users not just as sources of perspective but as real partners and collaborators, empowering them to shape and influence the solutions we build together.

Designing Digitally Enabled Experiences for Caregivers

EmbraceRace

Challenge

Design innovative, digitally enabled experiences to help caregivers discuss race and racism with young children while leveraging existing content and building new networks.

My Role:

Principal Design Strategist – Led research synthesis, user insight & ideation workshops, prototype testing and team work planning.

  • Team members:

    • Lead Design Researcher

    • Product Design Consultant

    • Research Assistant

Project Overview

    • Deployed a survey of 100 caregivers via SurveyMonkey to identify high-value areas for ideation.

    • For each area, we generated a set key findings, design principles and analogous research to serve as inspiration for new concept ideas.

    • Facilitated 4 workshops with 14 caregivers, introducing design principles and adjacent examples to inspire creativity.

    • Guided individual ideation exercises and collaborative refinement of ideas with care givers and organization’s leadership.

    • Conducted 4 multi-factor prioritization sessions with 13 additional caregivers to evaluate and refine concepts.

    • Facilitated exercises like "Yes And…" to build out promising ideas into actionable prototypes.

    • Designed clickable prototypes in Figma and tested them with caregivers during co-creation sessions.

    • Captured real-time feedback and iterated on designs collaboratively in live co-development sessions with caregiviers.

    • Final iterated ideas were put through a final quantitative assessment of likelihood to use by care givers with an interest in topics of race and culture.
